The Comeback

After some long months of absence I hope I'm back on a more regular basis. With some Metal in my bag, of course. But I'll make it quick.

Cephalic Carnage. Until last Sunday they were number one on my must-see-live list and they stood up to my (high) expectations. They put up one of the most enjoyable shows I have ever seen. Heavy as shit - the genre they play isn't called Grind Death for nothing - unleashing the public into a wild moshpit with every song and most of all delivering every single note with a combination of technicality, precision and plain amusement close to delirium. Just great! And to get a grasp at their music, here's Endless Circle of Violence.

Another genuine pleasure on Sunday evening was to see live Psycroptic. These guys are one of the highlights of Technical Death Metal of 2008; theirs is my number one Metal album of the year without any hesitation. And I'm enthusiastic about it:) They don't deliver that much on the scene because a lot of their music involves insanely fast guitar shredding, nevertheless I was absolutely impressed by the energy they induced in a not yet ready to fully deliver moshpit in the public with the starting note of (Ob)servant, the title track of their latest album. To give you a better idea of what these guys are capable of I present you Initiate. Focus on the guitar, you will be blown away.
